China’s economy is currently experiencing rapid growth, driving ever-increasing energy demand. Yet amid volatile global conditions, energy security must remain grounded in domestic resources. China Geological Survey (CGS), directly under the Ministry of Natural Resources, leads nationwide fundamental, public-interest, and strategic geological and mineral exploration efforts.

In recent years, CGS has achieved a series of breakthroughs in domestic resource exploration, including:
• Major natural gas discovery at Anye-1 Well in northern Guizhou (Yunnan-Guizhou-Guangxi region)
• First shale gas flow obtained from China’s oldest stratigraphic layer at Eyangye-1 Well in Yichang, Hubei
• Significant findings in unconventional oil & gas exploration, including coal-seam gas
• First-ever discovery of oil & gas and hydrates in the southern Qilian Basin at Muli, Qinghai
• Multiple key breakthroughs in oil & gas geological surveys targeting new regions and new strata

Though rich in natural resources, China faces uneven geographical distribution. As geological survey work expands, challenges—including scattered exploration sites, inefficient data sharing across systems, and insufficient visual command capabilities—have long hindered CGS operations. To address these, IFREECOMM deployed a Visualized Integrated Data Support System for CGS’s Oil & Gas Resources Center, enabling unified access, management, and dispatch of real-time audio/video feeds from drilling sites, drill positioning data, safety production scheduling information, and on-site monitoring footage—significantly improving operational efficiency.

Resource Integration: Breaking Down Information Silos
To resolve fragmented drilling data and isolated surveillance systems, IFREECOMM not only deployed high-definition video communication modules and wearable “single-soldier” modules for CGS’s Oil & Gas Resources Center—but also seamlessly integrated visual audio/video data with hydraulic fracturing and other drilling data—achieving “one-system access, one-map application, and one-interface integration.”
In practice, users can instantly view high-definition on-site monitoring feeds and key performance metrics for oil & gas wells—eliminating information silos.
Interconnectivity: Visualized Safety Management
Through IFREECOMM’s Visualized Integrated Data Support System, CGS’s Oil & Gas Resources Center remotely monitors wells such as Eyangye—centrally integrating daily drilling progress, live audio/video feeds, personnel location tracking, and more. Command centers and relevant managers can conduct efficient remote command and collaborative consultations anytime, anywhere—meeting production dispatch requirements for “data visualization, flat-layered scheduling, and high-definition communications.”
Additionally, “single-soldier” equipment was issued to frontline drilling staff to support routine inspection tours, safety checks, and end-to-end scheduling operations.

The system integrates a high-definition video conferencing module, supporting diverse use cases—including routine meetings, remote training, daily briefings, and emergency consultations. It enables organization-wide video conferences across all oil & gas wells, facilitating dissemination of higher-level policy directives and peer knowledge sharing.
Multipoint video conferencing is among CGS Oil & Gas Resources Center’s most frequently used functions.
